"She Knows a Thing or Two About Aging"
Emma Shulman has been a gerontologist, social worker and Alzheimer’s researcher for many years. She is also 96.
'The incurable optimist'
Who better to ask about aging then from a person who has done it herself!
A great article for anyone who is interested in issues on Alzheimer's disease, memory loss, weight, breaking old habits, etc.
My favorite thing about this lady is the fact that she is always learning. She is taking her masters because she believes that learning is one way to slow aging. Learning can never stop, but it can stagnate. All-to-often we can be quoted as saying: 'I know more than you, I've been around longer!" Knowledge is more then just experience. Knowledge is a mental exercise. Not any less important than the physical exercise we are more familiar with.
Learn everyday. Take up a new hobby, study a subject and be an expert. Read and/or listen to all the books you can! Fool your brain into thinking you're younger than you are! You can teach and old dog new tricks! Try it!
